An NGO founded in 2001 to cater to the needs of street children near Worli Sea Face slowly shifted its activities to the slums of Cheetah Camp in Trombay in 2007. Vidya Vardhini Foundation Trust (VVF) focuses mainly on health and educational needs of children with disabilities and marginalized women living in the urban slums of Mumbai.
VVF also runs a Vision Centre in collaboration with Haji Bacchoo Ali Ophthalmic & ENT Hospital at Parel. This project is supported by Sight Savers International. VVF also promotes women through their empowerment programs by initiating Self Help Groups targeting mainly mothers of children with disabilities and other needy women. |
